As some of you may know, I have been feeling very down in the dumps lately. I will never be someone that is considered mainstream "beauty". Even those who have called me pretty said I have an attractiveness that is odd and hard to put a finger to. Well as an outcast struggling to come into my own as a woman it's hard to replace good with all the negative from my past. It's hard to pull myself from the mindset of that twelve year old that nobody wanted to associate with because she didn't know how to be what everyone wanted. The sixteen year old that people thought was creepy and hyperactive, who brashly defied the rules of conformity but still desperately wanted to be accepted. Now I am a bitter, tired nineteen year old who is sick of the game and just wants to be happy with who she is, or at least capture some inner peace while everything on the outside falls apart.

::Sigh.::

In any case, this was inspired by these dark thoughts and by watching VH1's Maxim Hot 100. The hottest women in the world according to a smut-peddling corporation. And because I want to be an actress, I have no choice but to compare myself to them, since everyone else will be. The fact is; I don't stack up. Don't even begin to. So, to curb the mounting depression I threw on some makeup and tried to make myself pretty.

Hint; There is Photoshop involved. Mostly in evening my skintone. This IS me, but who wants to see the big red zit that's on my cheek right now? Photoshop = public good.

This is more for my benefit than anyone else's, but it's been a while since I have done just a simple portrait set. So here we are; simple portraits. I hope someone can get some use out of one of these.

(On a side note, apparently I am somewhat famous in my hometown? I haven't gotten approached on the sidewalk and asked for an autograph yet but my boyfriend said when he mentioned my Deviantart name in his math class, several people had heard of me and a couple of you are fans. That makes me so happy, you have no idea.)

Screw being normal! :D
Being normal overrated, it's being odd and different that makes you special, makes you different from everyone else out there. You just need to learn to embrace it and push aside any insecurities. Confidence shines through any insecurities you have. As an aspiring actress, just act like you are confident, beautiful (well, you don't have to act like you're beautiful, but you need to act like YOU think you are) happy with who you are and how you look, and strong.
Keep it up, and soon enough you'll see that people don't look at you like you think they do.

I speak from experience, I know gorgeous girls, but they don't think they are, and the lack of confidence shows. I'm insecure, but I pretend that it doesn't bother me, and it shows. When you stop thinking about everything that's wrong with you and push it aside, that's when you'll hear everyone telling you what's right about you, what makes you beautiful.

Bar none, happiness and confidence are the most beautiful traits that a person can show. It's what you use to sell yourself to the world (in a non-perverted sense). Being different is what makes you a prize to be won, there is only one of you.
